Our Mission
Seoul Halal Guide curates verified halal restaurants, prayer facilities, and Muslim-friendly accommodations across Korea — helping Southeast Asian Muslim travelers explore Korea with confidence.
We focus on three pillars:
- Verified Information — Every restaurant and venue we feature is cross-checked against the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) official halal database, which classifies establishments into four tiers: Halal Certified, Self-Certified, Muslim Friendly, and Pork-Free.
- Multi-Language Accessibility — Content available in English, Bahasa Indonesia, and Bahasa Melayu — the primary languages of our 240+ million Southeast Asian Muslim readership.
- Mobile-First Design — Built for the way travelers actually browse (98.3% of Indonesian internet users are mobile-first, per DataReportal 2025).
Why We Built This
Korea welcomes over a million Muslim visitors annually, yet halal travel information remains scattered across language barriers and inconsistent certifications. Seoul Halal Guide consolidates trusted sources into one accessible resource.
Honest Disclosure
Our founder, Jeffrey, is not Muslim. Seoul Halal Guide is operated by a non-Muslim Korean team committed to serving the Muslim travel community through:
- Rigorous primary-source verification (KTO, MUIS, JAKIM, MAFRA)
- Editorial advisory from Muslim community contributors (Phase 2)
- Transparent labeling: “Verified by KTO” / “Pending review” / “Self-certified — please confirm locally”
We do not issue halal certifications. We curate publicly available information from authoritative sources.
Our Founder
Jeffrey, our founder, has spent years building friendships and business relationships with Muslim travelers and entrepreneurs across Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Though not Muslim himself, he developed a deep appreciation for Islamic dining customs and the practical challenges Muslim visitors face in Korea — from finding KMF-certified restaurants to locating prayer facilities near tourist sites. Seoul Halal Guide started as a personal project to help his friends visiting Seoul, and grew into a public resource.
